Mam Acer Aspire One D257 a misto puvodniho OS Mee Go jsem nainstaloval Debian 6.0.2 a nejde mi na nem spustit wifina, tento model nema soupatko ale wifi se spousti klavesovou zkratkou fn+F3 system vsak bezdratove site v apletu na horni liste nanabizi a indikacni led wifi karty nesviti nevite nekdo co s tim ?

firmware wifi? jak ho zjistim? nikde v kompu ani na netu nemuzu najit co tam je za kartu natoz jeji firmware

Jakou to má WiFi? Máš nainstalované odpovídající balíčky firmware-* (firmware-linux, firmware-realtek apod.)?

a nenapada mne co s tim dal intelacky ovladace na wifikartu jsem postahoval vsechny co mi apt. nabidnul

Co tam máte za kernel?  Tu wifinu (firmware/drivery) údajně podporuje až kernel 2.6.37 a novější, takže asi povolit debian backports repozitář a nainstalovat novější kernel + non-free firmware...

Sedím u D255E mám tam Lubuntu a nemusel jsem nic řešit, jen zadat heslo do sítě. Klávesa normálně funguje, jen jí to dýl trvá.

I just bought Asus Aspire One D257 and noticed that the Wi-fi adapter won't work in Debian stable even after all the instructions being done. Has anybody managed to make it work?

a můžu požádat o radu jak to udělat, kde to povolit? pak předpokládám že to nahodim přez apt nebo správce aktualizací.

I found a solution.

So, if you are a proud owner of the Aspire One D257 with Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 on board you better stick to Debian testing (codename «Wheezy» at the moment). After the installation (netinstall from a usb stick is the best choice) you need the next packages, apt-get them:

firmware-linux firmware-linux-free firmware-linux-nonfree (for general firmware support)
firmware-iwlwifi wireless-tools (for the wifi network card mentioned above)
firmware-realtek (for better support of the Realtek network adapter)

Everything now works just perfect.

I mean, instead of Debian stable «Squeeze» use rather Debian testing «Wheezy». The second one has the newer software and drivers. It seems that the stable version is the best choice for home computer and for the servers but the testing one is better for new netbooks.
